C&MA Symbol, KCC History, KCC Vision
The cross, laver, pitcher, and crown are the four symbols that join to illustrate the central theme in The Christian and Missionary The LAVER: Christ Our Sanctifier
The Christian & Missionary Alliance Symbol
The CROSS: Christ Our Savior
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to man by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
The Cross stands for the salvation made available to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3).
The Laver symbolizes sanctification, a daily cleansing from sin and the empowerment to live as God intends through the indwelling Christ
The PITCHER: Christ Our Healer
“And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up” (James 5:15).
The Pitcher speaks of oil, a symbol of divine life and physical healing that comes from Jesus.
The CROWN: Christ Our Coming King
“You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Mark 14:62).
The Crown symbolizes the return of Jesus Christ to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords.
The GLOBE: Our Worldwide Mission
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).
The Globe remind us of our responsibility and the privilege to take the message of Christ's love to the whole world.

Our History
God birthed Kailua Community Church in 1975, when a small group of courageous and Spirit-led Christians from a C&MA church in the Land was purchased on Oneawa Street and a donated building was moved on to the site. This building became the new sanctuary, while a tiny house left on the property was used for offices and Sunday school classes. On May 23, 1982, groundbreaking ceremonies marked the start of our existing sanctuary. In February of 1988 after much hard work and sacrifice, our present day sanctuary was dedicated and the first service in the new sanctuary was held. Pastor Doug Grogan left in 1984 to serve the Lord in On August 8, 1999, Pastor Keith Newsome left to follow God’s calling to a church in Palm Springs, and Pastor Perry Alexander immediately began serving as interim pastor. On February 8, 2000, Pastor Perry’s status changed from interim to permanent senior pastor.
Our Vision
As we continue to seek and follow the Lord’s guidance for our church, we believe He wants our present focus to be on the Africa~ Building~ Community~ We also have found that one of the best ways to reach out to the surrounding community is through building relationships outside the church setting with those we come in contact with on a day-to-day basis.
A, B, C’s
(Africa, Building, & Community).
We have been heavily involved in working with AIDS orphans and disadvantaged children in Kenya and Uganda since October 2004. This includes having helped build a Christian school and the drilling of a well for water in Kenya; building a Christian school and church in Uganda; providing the salaries for the teachers and the funds for feeding the children of Living Hope School in Uganda; the sponsorship of a medical clinic in Uganda; the support of over 200 orphans in Uganda; a University scholarship program for orphans in Uganda; and bringing teams from our church to disciple and encourage the orphans at Siita Nest Orphanage in Uganda. (For more information about our Africa missions work please see our BLESS AFRICA page)
God continues to bless KCC with growth. We have greatly outgrown our present facilities and have completed the design of a beautiful and very functional “Family Life Center”, a facility that will include larger and more abundant classroom space, a larger fellowship hall, a modern kitchen, larger bathroom facilities, and an expanded and updated sanctuary. These new facilities should allow us to double in size as well as double our impact on both our community and our world. A Capital Campaign is about to start and we plan to start construction sometime in 2009.
The fellowship we have with other believers is one of the greatest blessings we have as Christians. To help foster this fellowship, we provide numerous opportunities for people to meet together in community groups of various sizes and formats, where people can minister to others and be ministered to themselves.
